Fish In Glass, 2008 and more baby news...

Hello All!
I hope as summer starts to wane just slightly (it might be wishful thinking), everyone has been enjoying their Labor Day Q's and looking forward to fall (it's my favorite time of year).
We have lots of news and things have been very busy - hopefully I can pare down to the most important here.
Fish In Glass, my newest piece, has just been delivered to its new home. A long time in the making, I hope the collector of this piece enjoys the unique-ness of this piece. I appreciate all her patience while I completed this piece. Definitely one to stand out!

Transition Art Studio, whose director, Teressa Barnhill, has been a driving force in my artistic progression, has totally revamped their website. Please take a look - I'm in awe at their web design prowess!

Over the next few months I am having all the paintings still in possession re-photographed. Hopefully it will provide greater clarity of color and line to the viewer. Online viewing, to me, is not the best way to view work. You really need to be able to absorb it in person. Each piece has its own character, personality and vibrance that is just not always able to be experienced through the online venue. For this reason I always encourage either private or group viewings of my artwork.

As for family news... we recently found out we are having a baby girl! Her name, which of course we have picked out already, will be Abigail Summer. (Yes, I know she will be a winter baby but we love the name). We are over halfway there and are being told that she may make her appearance around Christmas!

Lots of news I need to circulate:

  • Good wishes to my good friend Giselle Grayson, who is currently en route to Atlanta to audition for P Diddy and the new show Starmaker. Let me also say that this was not an open call deal, but she was called personally by MTV casting to get her on board.
  • Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Rohr! My very good Nicole Bertke made a gorgeous bride as we all knew she would. What a new chapter you have in your life ladybug!
  • A wish for good painting to Linda Lee Whaley who will be in Cincinnati participating in Fresh Art this coming weekend. I was planning on supporting her in person but will be in Alabama meeting my new nephew Kolton! I am going to be with you in spirit!!!
  • Finally, I want to give all my love to my little sister who has been a pioneer on the Beasley baby train. Ashley welcomed Kolton Ian Kelley into the world last week, and I am the proudest aunt ever! Can't wait to see you, sweetie!

Hope everyone is doing well and stay in touch - I will be putting my preliminary 2009 show calendar together in the coming months and will hopefully have it out on the site by 1Q 2009.

Artful Thinking,

Katie
